Heinrich Dangberg started the town of Minden where he built his family cabin in 1856 with his wife Margaret Ferris (yes, of the Ferris wheel, believe it or not), the daughter of a well noted American family. Their home has since been made into a historic park and is located off Hwy 88, just south of the Carson Valley Swim Center. Downtown Minden holds many events throughout the year including free concerts in the Minden Park during the summer, concerts and other fun events in the CVIC Hall, the parade of lights, May the 4th be with you event, weekly farmers market and so much more. It is a center of a great deal of creativity—for example, one of our residents, Chris Bentley, is creating a state of the art distillery offering numerous types of spirits! Minden is also the home of The Carson Valley Inn and Casino. Whether you’re looking for the distinctive style of old-world construction or the new construction, both can be found in this area!
