Why you'd want to live in Genoa
http://www.genoanevada.org/visitgenoa.htm Genoa marks the start of Nevada; it was the first settlement in the state. In 1851, a group of Mormon Traders made an outpost in this area, now known as Mormon Station Historic Park. This quaint little town sits at the base of the Eastern Sierra Mountain Range. Make sure to visit Downtown Genoa, park the car and take a stroll down Main Street. While you’re there, visit the oldest bar in Nevada (it still has a dirt floor)! The Genoa Bar is famous for their amazing Bloody Marys and excellent entertainment (Learn more about it here: http://www.genoabarandsaloon.com/). This little town only has 250 residents, but they sure know how to throw a party. During the summer months, Genoa is the place to be with Sweet Sipping Sundays, Cowboy Poetry Contest, and the largest event of the year in our area: The Candy Dance, which boasts over 25,000 visitors yearly! The Candy Dance is an artisan’s craft fair with over 500 homemade craft vendors, food, entertainment and of course the homemade candy. Genoa is only 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe and about an hour from Reno. Genoa has many hiking trails, including one that goes to a beautiful waterfall. There are a few Bed and Breakfasts in the area to enjoy or stay at Wally’s Hot Springs Resort and partake in the amazing food of 1862 Restaurant and Saloon, soak in the hot springs or get a massage in the spa! http://www.davidwalleys-resort.com/
